This is our personal project. The boards were sent out for repairs and have now been restored. The glass monitor bezel was cleared and preserved. Next, we need to build a new bottom floor for the cabinet, as the previous one was too rotten to salvage.
Update: Things didn’t go as planned. I ended up uncovering a termite problem when I removed the bottom. I discovered it was all tongue-and-groove and severely water- and termite-damaged. Now, I’m faced with the question: do I need to replace not only the bottom but also the bottom edges of the sides and rear panel, which have also been affected by termites? Yes, all the bad has been removed and replaced.
Done with wood making. Next is sanding and paint blending to look old. Done sanding and painting, on to the next.
Applied new t-molding. Cleaned the wiring harness. Put back the wiring where it was. Boards mounted. Replacing rusted screws and parts as I go, and if I have them. I forgot I had powder-coated the metals (looks too good if you ask me). Monitor back in and tested good. Color overlay cleaned and taped in.
The control panel and joystick have been fully disassembled, de-rusted, cleaned, painted, and oiled. A new joystick dust cover grommet has been created; I cleaned the aluminum panel as best as I can for now. Maybe someday I'll recreate a new silk-screened panel (maybe).
On order is a new 6x9 8ohm speaker and a few non-rusted screws and marquee bulbs. Then this is DONE!
