This machines works nice, but does need a good cleaning. Its been about 20 years since its last service and is gummed up. This is in for a full take apart, clean, adjustment, grease and oil.
First will be to break down the entire mechanism. Removing the reels first. Remove springs, cotter pins, washers and so on. Then all the parts will soak in the parts cleaner overnight to remove that old hardened grease and oil. Brass brushed where needed. Then a wipe down with Lacquer Thinner before assembly. New cotter pins and springs where needed, but the use of the original cotter pins and washers will be reused if possible.
